About SGCSA
Hello soccer fans. We are the Strikers of Gaston County Soccer Association and we are located in Gaston County, NC where we serve players from the entire area. We are sanctioned by the North Carolina Youth Soccer Association to offer several levels of soccer: Academy, Challenge, and Classic (Division II, Division I, and Premier).

Founded in 2000 with two original teams, the 90 Hurricanes and the 92 Flames, SGCSA has grown into a club of 23 teams ranging in ages from U9 to U18.  Pictured below are the original Flames and Hurricanes teams.

Some of the club’s founding principles are that all coaches must be highly qualified, show a demonstrated passion for the game, be excellent teachers for young people, and be true volunteers. The club does not want economics to become a factor in child sports and we want the players to receive high quality instruction. Every staff member or coach adheres to strict volunteerism.

Most of our coaches have played competitive soccer either at the professional level, collegiate, select military, high school, or club soccer in their past.  In addition, our coaches are strongly encouraged to obtain coaching licenses and certificates to ensure that their continuing education and their quality of coaching are up to date.

Over the years, our teams have won and/or became the finalists in several local, regional, and state tournaments. Our competitive boys teams are known as the SGCSA Flames and our girls teams are known as the SGCSA Hurricanes.  They participate in the NCYSA Academy Program (U-10 and younger), the Charlotte Area Youth Soccer League (Challenge), and the NCYSA Classic League.

During the summer, we cooperate with the Belmont Parks and Recreation Department to offer an annual 3 v 3 festival for all of the young players in Gaston County and the surrounding areas.
We hope to continue our success for several years down the road as we adhere to our principles of development, sportsmanship, and enjoyment.  Thank you for visiting our website.
